Certificate in Public Health Informatics

As information technology becomes more essential to health care, the demand for health professionals trained on health informatics is rapidly growing. This certificate program is designed to address the increased demand at federal and local levels of Public Health Informatics employment market.

There are five courses; the first three are required and the last two are elective.

  • Foundations of Health Information Sciences I
  • Principles and Foundation of Public Health Informatics
  • Introduction to Epidemiology
  • Methods in Public Health Informatics or Synthesis Project of Public Health Informatics, or another HU course
  • SPH Online Courses (such as SPH Foundations of Biostatistics)

The credits earned in the certificate program may be applied toward an MPH degree at the University of Texas School of Public Health.
