Through the LEAP agreement, first-time TAMIU freshmen* will be guided through courses and other requirements needed to earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree at TAMIU. After meeting the necessary requirements and a successful application process, students will then enter one of four master’s degree programs or a doctoral degree program in the School of Health Professions at UT Health.
The programs include Master’s degrees in:

  • Physician Assistant Studies
  • Respiratory Care
  • Medical Laboratory Sciences
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy

*A total of 25 students will be selected each year, 5 students per program.

  • Student Application
  • 24 SCH, including 12 SCH in specific Science and Math prerequisite courses
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.2 at TAMIU
  • Copy of TAMIU academic transcript
  • Two letters of recommendation (pre-health advisor and professional in the field)
  • 20 hours of working, volunteering shadowing, or observing in a health care setting.
